My First Watercolor

Sarah visited the OKC Arts Festival yesterday and had lots of fun painting her first watercolor with great aunt Margee. She also did some arts and crafts with Nana.

Dis n Dat

Sarah is getting taller and taller, looking less and less like a toddler and more as a little girl. And she is as energetic as ever, seeming to constantly be talking and moving around. When we get onto her for something, Sarah will sometimes cry, of course, or whine, but lately she has added the words "I'm sad" with the crying to pull an even greater Oscar performance and, hopefully, our sympathy. The girl is smart. ;)

Her Grammy visited this past week and fished a number of toys from her rental house's shed out back, toys Sarah's Mommy and siblings played with as kids--wooden train set, fisher price camper, a plastic record player, and others. They also had fun visiting the zoo (Sarah loves the water area of the Children's Zoo there), shopping, and playing outside. Little did Daddy know that Sarah has learned how to swing on the "big girl swing" instead of the diaper-looking baby swings. Oh my, she's growing up!

Lately, too, Sarah has tried out a few new foods, finding she enjoys banana, chocolate, and broccoli of all things. "Lollipop" has entered her vocabulary, and she has actually moved into drinking some juice instead of the standby milk we've given her forever. Sarah's diet is still rather limited, but we see improvement there. When we partake in our ritual Friday night restaurant or she has lunch sometimes with Daddy, Sarah enjoys eating Chinese, CiCis pizza, Taco Bueno, Subway, and McDonald's--yes, not the best nutritional places, but we've been avoiding the more formal sit-down places due to periodic meltdowns and such. :)

Soon, Sarah will be three. She really doesn't need anything as far as toys go (when has she ever?), but we might get her something to expend all those energies on for the backyard, maybe a handwriting teaching system since she knows the alphabet and can read already, and balloons. Yes, simple and effective those are. This summer, we plan on taking her to the local pool with the season pass, the zoo, Gymboree, and maybe a dance class or something since she loves music and movement. Plus, Sarah has relatives to visit both near and far along with a trip to the East Coast in June. Three will be a busy year!

Wonderkind

Sarah has always loved letters and words. She knew her alphabet before two, had over 100 words she could read by 2 1/2, and now, at almost three, she is starting to read whole sentences. A daddy is allowed to boast a bit, eh? :)

If 32-year-olds Acted Like 2-year-olds, They'd...

  • Wear diapers, and when doing a #2 shout "bye, bye!" if someone came into the same room.
  • Scream at the top of their lungs at the littlest things--like a pants leg being crooked or a coat collar poking them in the cheek.
  • All have transitional objects or "lovies" that accompanied them to board meetings, on visits with their tax lawyer, and on dinner-and-a-movie dates.
  • Like doing the same things over and over, whether watching a certain movie or riding a ride at the amusement park.
  • Enjoy looking at themselves in the mirror and saying "pretty hair."
  • Get really excited every time they saw the moon.
  • Sharply rebuke you if you stole their center of attention by trying to sing to the same song.
  • Make funny burping noises on visits to the grocery store, at times running down the aisle and saying "Running!"
  • Be the smartest and cutest 32-year-old around. :)

Mo Bideos!

OMG. Sarah hasn't posted her shining face lately, too busy playing with Little People, watching Lots to Learn "Bideos", and being a little sick.

She'll get some more pics and vids up soon!
